MAY IS FOR FRIENDS!!!!!

Karen and Kelly came up for a short visit.....shopping, movies, and eating! Kelly has matured into a lovely young lady from the little girl who used to call me "Donut Lady" way back in those good old "St. Matthew" days when we'd eat donuts while waiting for the boys to get out of school on 1/2 days. Kelly will start California State Univ.- Monterey in the Fall....Good Luck!!!!!! She cheerfully endured endless hours of shopping for "olde lady" clothes and shoes this time around (but somehow she got a few cute things, too!!!)

Olde Pal Beverly, from Chicago, came to visit. We go way way back to Jr. High....can you believe that? We even share a very special memory of trying out for the high school mascot (Oxyvine...the horse). I was the front and she was the rear...we can even do a few of the dance steps if you ask us nicely and give us chocolate. We didn't win....of course it was political...we were definitely the best and still are and we haven't gotten over it and never will. Anyway, Beverly came to visit and shop and eat and tour model homes and eat chocolate and watch movies. We had a wonderful time until one of us came down with "piglet flu" and the visit came to an abrupt end. No time for a picture this time around, but suffice to say we are still breathtakingly gorgeous as we were when we tried out for Oxyvine. Yeah, right. Here are some pictures of my house now that Spring has finally come.

4 Women-5 Days-One Hot-Mama Car-Where Do We Go? DISNEYLAND!!

As the title describes, you take 4 "olde" friends (two who celebrated BIG BIRTHDAYS), 5 free and easy days, one sexy car, and off we went to Southern California to play and celebrate our friendship and their birthdays. We started out by terrorizing Judy and Carmie that they would be attending Jerry Springer's classy TV show (dodging chairs and hearing words that our little sensitive ears are not used to hearing (??!!), but later that evening Donna distributed specially made PRICE IS RIGHT (The AGE IS RIGHT) tee shirts so they knew they would be going to the Price is Right TV show taping the next day. Of course, neither of them slept that night worrying that their names would be called to "COME ON DOWN". The next day was spent sitting on cold benches from 7a.m. until 1p.m. waiting to be interviewed and photographed for the show, but we didn't have to worry about being a contestant since we were about 40 years too old and we were not wearing our short shorts and tank tops that day. Oh well, we still had a ball meeting people and watching everything that goes on to make a TV show run smoothly. Be sure to watch for us on May 4 (we are in the last row....we were among the last 6 to be seated in the audience!!!). After that ordeal we could relax as we made our way to Disneyland where we spent two full days riding and eating and laughing our way around the Magic Kingdom. The two birthday girls were outfitted in tiaras, birthday sashes and birthday buttons and were constantly greeted with "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"!!! from strangers and employees....Donna and I felt like the two ugly step-sisters until people started greeting us, too, with "Happy Un-birthday to you!!". Too soon it was time to head for home and we all wondered how five days could fly by so quickly. We started talking about the next trip......hard to top this one....but we will. Happy Birthday, Judy and Carmie!!! Great working with you Donna.....I think we surprised them (and scared them!!) really good!!!

March 19, 2009 - Just Checking In

Christopher told me that if I don't update my blog frequently my friends will lose interest.....so here goes.

The most exciting thing that has happened this week is that my God-daughter, Savanah's Daddy....my cousin Ernest....had returned safely from his THIRD DEPLOYMENT to Iraq!!!!! He is our family's hero....and deserves a good rest and lots of golf and fun in the sun as they are now stationed in Hawaii! Much love to the family....and to Rhiana, who kept the family strong and together during Ernest's absence. Love you guys!

OK, here are a few pictures of some of the changes I've made to my house. Took out the carpet in the family room and put in tile...also tiled the stairs.

Stay tuned. More to come.

Las Vegas - February 2009

Well, here goes my first try at my blog...thanks to Christopher and many, many thanks to Tracy!!

My olde pal Karen, a Mom from St. Matthew days, and I took off for Las Vegas for a winter get away in something new....something sleek...and something that was very difficult at times to keep under 93 mph! (sorry, Karen...I don't think you knew about that!!). After a very mellow trip down I-5, where I put Karen to work serving me cranberry juice and goodies (hey, you have to keep the driver happy), we pulled into Caesars Palace and were welcomed back with smiles and an upgrade to a mini-suite with TWO BATHROOMS! You know you have arrived when there are two complete bathrooms for two people. Wow! Of course, we immediately checked out the Forum Shoppes and had our eyes on a pair of Jimmy Choo sandals for $898.98. Of course, the sales associate dissed us immediately when we walked in with our $20 purses and our ratty looking shoes...oh well, it doesn't cost anything to look! The next evening we attended Cher's performance at Caesars...and let me tell you, that woman looks fantastic and sings like she did 30 years ago....she does 16 costume changes and she's all over that stage like a performer years younger! We were so impressed. An added thrill...guess who was in the audience that night? Celine! My eyes were going crazy watching one on stage and one in the audience! The next evening we went to the Beatles-Love (Cirque de Soleil) and that was absolutely over the top fantastic. Everything has to come to an end, so we packed it all up the next morning and drove home. Anyone ever stop at Peggy Sue's Diner in Barstow? It is very cheesy but so much fun. All done up like the 50's with every pop star showcased in the diner and then also in their gift shop. They have the best old time burgers and milk shakes and the place is always jam packed...of course, when you see Barstow.....where else is there to eat? When you get depressed, you can perk up if you think...."Well, things could be worse....I could be living in Barstow".

OK....so now I am going to add a couple of pictures from the trip (they are self explanatory). If this blog works, then I will add another to show what changes I've done to the house....if you're interested.
